Will you have problems with your electric water heater if you have it on a double pole 20 amp breaker and 12-2 wiring going to the heater?

      Yeah you’ll end up burning the house down. You need a #8 wire 40 amp everything. 220 of course.

    Typically yes you would. Most heaters will need a 40 amp wire #8. But how big is your heater? What is it asking for?
