Hi
I already have a NEMA 14-50 outlet for my car charger that is on 60 Amps Receptacle. I need another 220V outlet in my garage for electrical tools. Can I pull an extension line from NEMA 14-50 to NEMA 6-20 without jeopardizing safety of my electrical tools or car charger? I am clear that Red, Black and green will go to the new outlet. Also I will not use the car charger and electrical tools same time. Please let me know if it does not work and I need to pull a new line with new 20 amps receptacle.
Thanks

When it comes to 240 volts I would always run another line. However, yes you can do what you want to do as long as it’s the only thing you have running at the same time. However, using a 50 amp with something that will burn up at 22 amps isn’t very smart. You know, I had to say that right. Oh and as long as you don’t need a neutral.
