Installing a 200 amp service

Installing a 200 amp service

Installing a new or replacing an existing service is really not as hard as you might think.

In this video, we go underground. You’ll need to use a 4/0 wire/200 amp whenever you go underground. Regardless of what size panel, that’s code.

But I do install a 200 amp panel because of other 220 load factors such as an eclectic dryer and electric stove with oven. Well, that’s not entirely true. It just makes it better sense too.

First, we dig the trench for the wire. The code states 24″ but since I’m using a machine I always go 4 feet. Just makes better sense.

Use a 2″ plastic conduit and make sure you use a slip joint under the meter as shown in the video.
