My electrician wired my 220 outlet with 4 wires – white, black, red & ground. I have a 3 wire 220 volt 20 amp plug/outlet for a car lift. Which wires will I use and where on the plug? (The machine/plug wires are green, red, black). Thanks!

The red and black are the two hots. Green is the ground. The white is the neutral, this is the return path. What brand and model is your lift?
