I need to repaint kitchen cabinets. My question is how to remove stuck on rubber backing from a previous owner sticking down a foam backed shelf liner and then ripping it out. I don’t know if I have to lay on the floor and try to scrape it out or if there is a safe solvent or something else I could use to speed it up?

Lacquer thinner would be my choice but not everyone can take the odor. Second up would be mineral spirits. You can can either at the box stores.
